Hey dear members!

I am terribly sorry for closing up the group's submissions but right now there mus be done some organizational changes so for the necessary amount of time submissions are closed.

The other former co-founder, =yasarsam has left the group. We've got two fresh new contributors instead. Please meet them on About Us.

If there are any other artistic people with good eye who wants to help us judge the photos, note us.

For #Photomentalist, =Jezisheck.

Yeah, you don't need a several thousand euro camera to make a great photograph, but why exclude those who own those? Also, amateurs often use professional grade equipment for a variety of reasons, and really often they use cameras which were highend during their time (i.e the 1D mk I and II or the original 5D, or the older XXD bodies, like the 10D, 20D, 30D and 40D and even 50D), but are relatively mid-end now. What I'm saying is that it's just silly to exclude those with higher end cameras. Photography in it's purest form can come from ANY camera, be it an ancient P&S digital camera or a 1Ds mark III or D3X, what I don't get is why you exclude the latter.

In any case, that doesn't really concern me, seeing as I use an EOS 400D, I just noticed that it's a MAJOR flaw of logic.

Also, the body doesn't make NEARLY as big of a difference on DSLRs as lenses do. You can easily stack say a Canon EF 70-200 F2.8L II to a XXXD series camera and get far better quality images(I ofcourse am referring to sharpness, distortion, colours, etc, not the artistic value of the photo) than you would with an 1Ds mk III and a Canon EF 75-300mm.

My point is that this group should purely be about the photos, NO MATTER WHERE THEY COME FROM, or atleast that's how I understood it. Or is it merely for people who don't own high-end equipment? Or do you really think photos somehow become less "pure" or something if they come from more expensive gear?

I would REALLY appreciate a properly argumented answer to this. Thanks in advance.
